Majele/venomous | Akirash Exhibition Opening Reception
Impacted by the forced separation of children from their parents at the U.S. Mexico board, multi-disciplinary artist, AKIRASH asks us to reckon with this dark moment in time. How can we heal the wounds, drain the venom, and live together in mutual respect and dignity?
Join us for an opening reception and celebration of Olaniyi Rasheed Akindiya better known as AKIRASH. In the early 90s he earned a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Agriculture Abeokuta. He later studied Fine Art at the Institute of Textile Technology Art and Design in Lagos. AKIRASH migrated to the United States in 2011.
Olaniyi is the recipient of numerous awards, grants, and fellowships including the Innovative Artist Award from the Mid America Artist Alliance (MAAA / NEA), Pollock Krasner Foundation Award, Santo Foundation and Commonwealth Connection Award UK.
The opening reception and celebration will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00pm. Hors d'oeuvres and light refreshments will be provided.
