We are pleased to host the in-person return of the Wildlife Wednesdays Free Science Lecture Series at the Alaska Zoo Gateway Hall! Stay warm and enrich your knowledge of the ways of Alaska's wildlife. Join us this winter on select second Wednesdays from October through April in the Alaska Zoo Gateway Hall (no lecture in December). Each talk begins at 7pm and covers a topic focused on wildlife of the Great Land - Alaska. The talks are approximately 45 minutes with questions and answers. Lectures are FREE to the public. Coffee, tea and cookies will be available. There are door prizes too!

The first lecture of the season will be held at the Zoo Gateway Hall at 7pm on Wednesday, October 12th. Join us for "Subsistence and Wild Foods in the Economy of Alaska's Remote Communities" by Liliana Naves, ADFG/Bird Subsistence Research Program. Lili Naves is an Oceanographer with a M.S. in Biological Oceanography and a Ph.D. in Biodiversity. She has a background in bird ecology research, and has worked for the Division of Subsistence of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for the last 15 years. She coordinates the Harvest Assessment Program on behalf of the Alaska Migratory Bird Co-Management Council in close collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Alaska Native organizations. Lili is going to share some information about Subsistence and Wild Foods in the Economy of Alaska's Remote Communities.
