As a Hungarian citizen living in New Zealand, to renew your Hungarian passport in New Zealand you must call the Hungarian Embassy in Wellington and make an appointment to renew your passport in person at the Hungarian Embassy in Wellington. This can not be done at the Hungarian Consulate in Auckland.
During your appointment at the Embassy, your fingerprints will be scanned as part of the application process and they can take a passport sized photo on site. It takes approx 1.5 months before you will receive your new passport and you will need to pay an application fee via direct debit into their nominated account.
