Animals are still a somewhat disenfranchised group in society. Animal law expert, V. Victoria Shroff will discuss how far we have come and where we are going in animal law.

How are Canadian animals treated? Generally speaking, animals are still a somewhat disenfranchised group in our society. In the 1400's, animals were actually put on trial and seen to have some moral agency, while today animal lawyers advocate to elevate animals’ status above property or things. How far have we come and where are we going in animal law? This presentation by animal law expert, V. Victoria Shroff will discuss rat trials, dangerous dogs, pet custody and more as examples of animal law, what it is and why it matters in 2020.
