Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra reaches a notable milestone with its 40th Anniversary celebrations.

Gareth Wood's vibrant overture with reflections on the industrial and cultural history of Cardiff Bay opens the programme. The orchestra is looking forward to welcoming Martin James Bartlett (the brilliant young pianist and former BBC Young Musician of the Year ), who previously performed Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 with CPO – a performance greeted with a standing ovation at St David's Hall. Martin will be performing Gershwin's ever popular Piano Concerto, a work overflowing with great tunes.

Tunes of a different kind and soaring passionate themes will be heard in Rachmaninov's sublime Symphony No 2 to complete the programme with possibly the most romantic symphony of all.

The orchestra looks forward to welcoming you to this very special occasion.
