Work visa in Russia

Hi, I am getting a work visa for Russia soon and wonder if there are any expats still living in Russia? I mean, expats without Russian spouses/families. Is it safe to be in Russia now given the current circumstances? My own kids are worried about me going to Siberia alone. I speak Russian but have no family in Russia.
