    Terciera Living

    All,
Although my living experience was many years ago, we found the small towns and villages to be very accepting. We lived in a village called Fontinhas. Its very simple there and you will make friends for life. I think alot of people want to go over there and make it their own little slice of America by being a flag waiver. Portuguese are very proud of their country and Azoreans love their Islands. Weather can be tough in the winter with it being wet and temps in the 50's most of the time. Lajes field can be a good source if an emergency arises and you need to get home. However, you would have to coordinate through the Consulate for any assistance. The people are wonderful. The food is amazing and the beaches and summer weather are beyond compare. Enjoy
